ANITA CUMMINGS is presently the owner of an independent consulting practice, specializing in professional MANAGEMENT assistance. In this capacity, she is responsible for developing and implementing client proposals as well as creating, marketing and presenting seminars and educational workshops. In addition, she has provided client services that include research, technical support and communications on economic and job development initiatives. Ms. Cummings has distinguished herself in numerous leadership roles in Chicago’s Southwest community. As a founder of the United Business Association of Midway (UBAM), she has developed a strong, organized business community that has promoted economic growth and development in the Midway Airport area. Ms. Cummings is presently Executive Director of UBAM.
Her knowledge and expertise in the area of business and industrial growth has developed over the last 20 years, beginning with reactivation of Midway Airport in 1979 and its subsequent local economic boom. Working with political, business and community leaders, Ms. Cummings has identified numerous economic projects, partnerships, and business initiatives and successfully worked toward their completion.
In her leadership capacity on a number of Boards including: CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT, NEIGHBORSPACE, SOUTHWEST HOME EQUITY ASSURANCE, MIDWAY AIRPORT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND CITY OF CHICAGO’S PLANNING GROUP FOR C.A.P.S. She has studied the needs of Chicago’s Southwest community and continuously develops agendas promoting park development, business retention and expansion, educational and hiring initiatives.
Ms. Cummings’ expertise is found not only in economic and business issues but also in the areas of the residential housing market and the management of community open space.
Ms. Cummings is a graduate of DePaul University and a life-long Chicago resident.
